Bullet proof

Can I wish my brothers were bullet proof
Wish not to be hated for my skin color
Not to be discriminated against
Want to be able to live not just survive
But I have to deal with my heart stopping when I hear sirens
My heart stopping when my brothers leave the house
My heart stopping when …
Another one of my people have passed …
They can’t breathe
They’ve said the wrong thing
They stood there ground
They stayed silent
They were born black
